The annual carnivals around the Lake Iliamna area are in the villages of Kokhanok and Newhalen.
Kokhanok’s annual carnival starts every second week of March. The Kokhanok Carnival
committee plans a 3 day carnival. There are a lot of fun activities that go on, such as,
dog racing, live band dancing, dinners, play crib and pinochle games, shooting matches,
and other activities. There are activities for children and teens, for instance, fun

Newhalen’s annual carnival starts the week of Valentines in February. The activities
that go on are dog racing, live band, dances, dinner and breakfast feed, and
other activities. There is activities for children and teens.
